Professor Xianyao Hu is a teacher, researcher, and instructor at the College of International Studies, Southwest University. He had graduated with B.A in English Education and M.A. in English Language and Literature from Southwest Normal University in 1997 and 2000, and received his Ph.D. in Translation Studies from East China Normal University in 2006. He had worked for various institutions and universities: post-doctoral research fellow at the National Center for Foreign Language Education, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) from 2008 to 2010, Fulbright visiting scholar at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) between 2011 and 2012, and Research Associate at the Department of Linguistics and English of Lancaster University from 2013 to 2014. He is interested and active in Corpus-based Translation Studies, translation and socio-cognition, Applied Linguistics, and Second Language Acquisition. In addition to monographs and peer-reviewed journal articles published in those fields, he is also Principal Investigator for a number of nationally funded research projects, a corpus-builder of several translational corpora, such as Corpus of Contemporary Translated Chinese Fiction (CCTFC), and the Corpus of Translational English (COTE). Besides academic interests, he also works as a translator of several translated books and many translated essays in finance, children’s literature and popular science.
